Rotterdam Films is an independent production company founded in 1980 by Dirk Rijneke and Mildred van Leeuwaarden. It produced and co-produced more than 45 documentaries and fiction films mainly for cinematic release.
They worked with directors from all over the world like Krzysztof Kieslowski, Béla Tarr, Mrinal Sen, Carlos Reichenbach, Alejandro Agresti, Balint Kenyeres, Bathasar Kormarkur, Ása Helga Hjörleifsdóttir and Ricky Rijneke.
Their films were selected for numerous film festivals worldwide such as Berlin, Rotterdam, Toronto, Cannes, Venice, Locarno, Sarajevo, Hong Kong, Sao Paulo, Montréal, New York.
Their core-business is to support directors; emerging talent as well experienced filmmakers, whose perspective and approach don’t result in a middle-of-the-road film but will be a proof of original and interesting auteur cinema intended for an international audience.

ALL IS HIDDEN is a poetic drama and cinematic experience centered on fourteen-year-old Yuri, who is growing up at a remote outpost with her father, Lorenzo, and her uncle, Ivan. Lorenzo guards the border of this frozen no man's land, spending his days tracking down refugees hidden inside trucks and containers.
In the depths of winter, the family embarks on a hunting trip meant to seal their bond, but a fracturing incident shatters their celebration, trapping them within a heavy, oppressive silence. Desperate to escape her father’s suffocating walls, Yuri vanishes inside the cargo of a truck, mirroring the refugees he patrols. As Lorenzo obsessively searches the borderlands for his missing child, the slow unraveling of time forces him to confront a devastating reality: the invisible borders we build within ourselves can turn the ones we love into strangers.

ALL IS HIDDEN is the second feature by critically acclaimed and award-winning female director Ricky Rijneke. She was selected for the Torino Film Lab Script & Pitch, The Sam Spiegel International Film Lab and the TIFF Talent Lab of the Toronto International Film Festival mentored by Małgorzata Szumowska, Jim Stark and Wim Wenders.
ALL IS HIDDEN was presented at the Venice Gap-Financing Market of the Venice Film Festival.
Ricky Rijneke’s debut, the short film WING, the fish that talked back (Competition Golden Leopard Locarno WP) was invited to over fifty international film festivals and won awards such as the Golden Stone for Best Dutch Debut Film, the Golden Gate Award for Best Short, San Francisco, Côte Bleue, Prix du Jury.
Her first feature SILENT ONES (Tiger Award Competition IFFR Rotterdam, WP) was invited to forty international film festivals and won eleven awards from fifteen nominations, including Best Film in New York, Berlin, Los Angeles and Toronto Ind. (Best Female Director).

Ása Hjörleifsdóttir is an Icelandic writer and director, born in 1984. She graduated from the Columbia University Film MFA program with her thesis film Ástarsaga (“Love Story”), a 2013 finalist for the Student Academy Awards. After her critically acclaimed first feature film The Swan (premiere TIFF 2017).
A Letter from Helga is Ása’s second film, an adaptation of the novel Reply to a Letter From Helga by Bergsveinn Birgisson.
